Al-Jazeera, holder of TV rights for the Champions League in the Arab world, transmitted on Tuesday the match of an Israel club, Maccabi Haifa against Bayern Munich, a first event for an Arab media.

  •     This is the first time an Arab television broadcasts a match of C1 disputed by an Israeli team. The match was commented in English.

Never before a match involving an Israeli club or national team, whatever was the competition, was broadcasted on an Arabic channel.

Until last year, the television rights to the Champions League were detained by the Saudi capital bouquet ART.

No head of Al-Jazeera channel based in Qatar, was reached Wednesday for comment.

Bayern Munich beat Maccabi Haifa 3 to 0 at the 1st day of the group stage of the Champions League (Group A), Tuesday in Tel Aviv.
