Madjer: "We must keep our feet on earth"
Algiers- former international football star, Rabah Madjer, said that the adventure that awaits Algeria in the World Cup 2010 will be very difficult not as imagined by many people, and this, on the basis of objective data that should not be overlooked.
- Madjer has however expressed his wish, like all Algerians, to see the fennecs pass the first round. He warns, however, against the three teams that will face our national team, including the United States who has managed to build a strong selection in recent years. A selection that was able to bring down the Spanish who were not beaten by Americans long ago.
What is your reading of the group in which our national team will evolve in the World Cup 2010?
It's a tough group, like other groups. All teams that qualified are strong and have earned their qualifications to this great world event, including our national team to whom I wish much success. But we should not deny the fact that this adventure will not be easy. On the other hand, it is not an impossible mission for the warriors of the desert.
Unlike the Algerian technicians and fans of football, you say that the group is difficult.
Indeed, our group is not easy as we imagine. It is rather a very difficult group. I'm not saying this to undermine the morale but on the basis of objective data.
The English selection is well known and is selected by specialists not to pass the first round but to win the World Cup. It is a strong selection; more experienced with excellent results and made its comeback with the coach Fabio Capello.
The American selection must be taken seriously by the Greens. Do not forget that this selection has won the American Cup Concacaf on the account of Mexico with five goals and a victory against Spain which must make us be very careful. For Slovenia, this selection has been qualified by beating the Russian team that is not to introduce.
So you mean that we should not be very optimistic about the second round.
Our group is certainly not easy, as for other groups elsewhere because this is a world cup and all selections are strong and there, I invite the media in the first place and all citizens to set foot on ground. We must leave the national team work in good conditions.
But you did not answer the question. Are we able to pass the first round?
As an Algerian, I wish from my deepest heart that we succeed in this course and be up, but I can not decide because it is difficult to make a prognosis.
Do you think the current selection is able to repeat the scenario of 82?
Personally, I refuse to compare generations. All I can say is that the current selection is very strong and gave us joy and happiness. The same is true for previous generations. All I want is continuity in this way and that our presence in the World is regular, not every 24 years.
