CAN-2010 – The “Greens” scorched by the “Flames” of Malawi

LUANDA - Algeria, one of the African countries qualified to the World Cup in south Africa, has completely missed its entrance into the African Cup of Nations, being humiliated by Malawi (0-3), the team supposed to be the weakest, Monday in Luanda.

  •    "One, two, three! Viva Algeria!": The song of Algerian fans to greet the qualification of their players to the World Cup in South Africa, turned against them ...

The "Fennec" have been scorched by the "Flames", nickname of Malawi ... The Algerian Heroes, Homeric winners of Egypt, during the support game to qualify for the World Cup (1-0), fell sharply against the small Malawi, 99th in FIFA ranking, and who takes part only for the
    second CAN.

Malawian Heroes are named Russell Mwafulirwa, Hellings Mwakasungula and Davie Banda, the strikers, who brought the first victory in African Cup in the history of the small southern African country.

The Flames are at once the head of Group A after the stunning 4-4 opening match of the day between Angola and Mali (the host country led 4-0 at one quarter of an hour late).

But more than the desire expressed by the Reds, it is the passivity of the Greens who stunned. Where was the fighting spirit of the “Fennecs” which had helped them erase the “Pharaohs” (1-0 in the support match in Khartoum)?

                              Revenge of 1984
                                -------------------
Absent in defence, cold in attack, the men of Rabah Saadane hardly have existed. And they have now to face the two most formidable opponents of the group to try to rebuild: Angola and Mali.

The Malawians initially surprised the Algerians by a favourable counter attack: a ball thrown by the keeper Faouzi Chaouchi bouncing on Esau Kanyenda and came within feet of Russell Mwafulirwa (17th), the star of "Flames", who opened the scoring

Hellings Mwakasungula aggravates the scoring with a header following a corner (35th), and Malawi complete disgust Algeria in the early second period by Davie Banda (48), who has been out injured after his goal.

The Malawians have also taken their revenge for the match of 1984 during their single CAN in Côte d'Ivoire, where they were swept by the same score by Algeria of Bouiche, Belloumi and Fergani, on March 5 of that year in Bouake.

there is no excuses whatsoever and concerning the heat they were aware and should have gone somewhere with similar weather for the training instead of france.
now it's up to them to show some pride to win the last remaining games and go further and prove the world yes we deserved to go to the world cup.
