FIFA "board" refuses integration of technology
PARIS - The IFAB (Board of the International Football Federation), after having been present Saturday in Zurich, in the headquarters of FIFA, two technologies for video assistance to arbitration on the goal line, decided not to integrate them in its rules and laws of the game
- These technologies (cameras placed on the amounts of goals and integrated microchip ball) is to determine with certainty whether the ball crossed the goal line or not.
In being presented the study results at its 124th Annual General Meeting, the Board, which until then had refused to address the issue of video assistance, had hinted at a softening of its position.
The Board members have not taken this decision unanimously, according to sources close to the matter, but a majority voted against the very principle of the integration of technology.
