According to the South African press yesterday, a group of engineers had discovered an important gas field, during research, in an area near the city of Durban which will host the Wold Cup festival.

  • The gas field is located below the stadium "Mbaheda Moses", a sports infrastructure that will host the meetings of the second, fourth, seventh and eighth groups of ffotball teams. The matches of 8th and the semi-finals will also be played on the field of that stadium, prompting the engineers to warn about the danger and risks at any time. They have forwarded a detailed report on the danger of this situation to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, emergency services and fire of the city of Durban, but received no official response from both institutions. This has raised the ire of engineers who have issued harsh criticism against the government which refuses to take seriously the gravity of the situation and carried the stadium construction on a land representing a danger not only for the security the local inhabitants of the region but also for the expected visitors from around for world for the World Cup.
  • For the expert Bob De Lang, the Government or the Department would carry out detailed studies into the area before building the gigantic stadium of "Moses Mbaheda" which has a capacity of over 750,000 people. This probably represents a great danger in the future, essentially that the city of Durban has been chosen to host meetings of the World Cup.
The latter was also surprised by the decision of the committee in charge of the construction of the stadium in South Africa which refuses to accept reality, claiming that the stadium had been controlled by international institutions such as FI FA, which approved the stadium.
