2010 World Cup - Best Player: three Spaniards among the 10 nominees

JOHANNESBURG - Three players from Spain, Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Xavi are among the 10 nominees for the title of best player in the World Cup-2010, released by FIFA and Adidas in Johannesburg Friday.

  •    The nominees are: Diego Forlan (Uruguay), Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Andres Iniesta (Spain), David Villa (Spain), Xavi (Spain), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Mesut Özil (Germany), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Arjen Robben (Netherlands) and Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands).
  •    In 2006, the French Zinedine Zidane, who was elected by a panel of technical experts of FIFA, despite his header in the final on the chest of Italian defender Marco Materazzi. His successor will be named Sunday after the final.
