Madjer: "Politics won’t keep me away from sport"

Algiers- former star of the Algerian national team, Rabah Madjer said that his main task, after being designated ambassador for humanitarian causes, is to work in the interests of his country on all levels and in all areas as he has always done when he was a player.

  • In a statement to the Algerian agency APS in Cairo, on the sidelines of the first meeting of representatives of peace and security, as an ambassador for the African Union, Madjer said that his new mission will be to make discover everything that has to do with Africa, particularly youth.
  • Replying to a question about his possible removal from the sport, being preoccupied with his political positions, the Algerian star said that his new position will not completely keep him away from sport. The latter announced he was ready to return to his initial activity in case he would receive proposals which correspond to his wishes. He added that he had received several proposals that he is currently studying.
  • The former Porto star also said he will attend the African meeting on 21 next month before moving the end of the month to Paris to take part in UNESCO meetings, as an ambassador of the organization.
  • Madjer will visit several African capitals in order to raise awareness among youth on the role of peace and sport.
