Hamdi Lachichi, director of the 19 May Stadium of Annaba said that the decision of the FAF was unexpected. "I told Benchikha that the stadium will not be ready for a match against Tunisia.

  • "We stopped training in this stadium in order to equip it and improve its land that has not been changed for 17 years," said Mr. Lachichi, adding he had informed the national coach Abdelhak Benchikha who came to oversee the ground that it will not be one hundred percent ready for the match against Tunisia.
The decision of the FAF was a sudden for him and for local authorities. The stadium management could have fit better if we had given the time needed.
The short time remaining before the match against Tunisia, scheduled for February 9, is not enough to prepare the ground. Despite this, he said, further efforts will be made to make the land acceptable although it will not be ready at a hundred percent.
