Football: Egyptian Aboutrika sacred Arab player in 2008
The Egyptian star of the football club Al Ahly in Cairo, Mohamed Aboutrika was appointed Arab player of the year 2008 at a ceremony Monday evening in Algiers, in the presence of the President of the of African Football Confederation (CAF) Issa Hayatou.
- Aboutrika has been crowned after a survey conducted by the Algerian sports daily ‘Buteur’ and the Arabic edition ‘El Haddaf.’ The main Arab media participated in the vote, explained editor of the ‘Buteur’ Mohamed Saad.
The game leader of the ‘Pharaohs’ won the trophy of the best Arab player for the second consecutive year (150 pts), ahead of his compatriot Amr Zaki, the striker for the English club Wigan (122 pts) and the Algerian international Rafik Saifi of the French club Lorient.
